Pineapple Introduction

Welcome to the Pineapple room where we provide a fun and stimulating environment for babies from the age of 6 months. The structure and layout of the room is to enable the children to explore the environment with safety. We encourage them to feel warm and comfortable with a familiar adult in a one-to-one situation, especially during the settling in period. The staff are a fun-loving, caring and energetic bunch.

Pineapple starts the day with Breakfast in small groups. Mealtimes are a good opportunity to build social skills, self-confidence and self-help skills with peers and familiar adults.

After breakfast we move on to our fun and stimulating time in the garden. Children enjoy their time with the cars, role play in the Wendy House and we all love to bring out our activities, for example puzzles, books, blocks, painting, drawing, water, sand and bubbles.

We provide and carry out planned and spontaneous activities which support the children’s development during the settling in period. Activities such as construction, role play, messy play, puzzles books, music and movement, water and sand play. Children have access to the equipment and toys on their level.

We enjoy heuristic play exploring natural objects, pots and pans, wooden spoons, smelly objects. This helps the children to use their senses to explore, develop and extend their curiosity, problem solving abilities, sharing, listening, and expressing feelings through body language and gestures.

We love to sing and dance using props, e.g. instruments and ribbons. Children enjoy participating in songs and rhymes, repeating and following actions in small or large groups. We also love dancing to music, especially from around the world which develops the children’s skills, co-ordination, control and movements.
