Early Years Teacher

I believe that ‘learning through play’ is the foundation of education and lifelong learning.  This teaching philosophy is built around childhood theories and pedagogy which I have adopted during my years as an education studies student, as well as over 5 years experience as an early years professional and been fortunate to work with children aged from 3 months to 10 years old. Having taught this broad range, I can see the progression from early years to key stage 2 and understand how crucial the early years curriculum is in building a platform for young children to start their education journey.

I strive to provide a rich learning environment where children feel confident to engage with the resources, explore the environment and challenge themselves. An example of my philosophy in practise is when I transformed a previous classroom into a space shuttle. This allowed me to create many opportunities  for learning including, but not limited to:

  • push buttons and turntable doorknobs as controls to develop children’s dexterity.
  • A coding game!  This consisted of number and letter patterns that children had to enter into the system (portable tablet).
  • Child made costumes for children to wholeheartedly take on the role of an astronaut.

I really am thrilled to be joining the Clown’s team and excited to share my experiences with new colleagues, and continue to support the children’s learning and development.
